Biography
Robert S. Laramee received a bachelors degree in physics, cum laude, from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst (ZooMass). He received a masters degree in computer science from the University of New Hampshire, Durham. He was awarded a PhD from the Vienna University of Technology (Gruess Gott TUWien), Austria at the Institute of Computer Graphics and Algorithms in 2005. From 2001 to 2006 he was a researcher at the VRVis Research Center (www.vrvis.at) and a software engineer at AVL (www.avl.com) in the department of Advanced Simulation Technologies. Currently he is an Associate Professor at the Swansea University (Prifysgol Cymru Abertawe), Wales in the Department of Computer Science (Adran Gwyddor Cyfrifiadur). His research interests are in the areas of scientific visualization, information visualization, and visual analytics. He has published more than 130 peer-reviewed papers in scientific journals and conferences.

Biography
Marcelo Milrad is a Full Professor at the Department of Media Technology. Professor Milrad has published over 170 articles in international journals, refereed conferences, books and technical reports. He has also been presenting and giving lectures about his work in more than 40 countries worldwide.
Research Interest
Marcelo Milrad's current research interests include the design of learning environments to support learning about complex domains, collaborative discovery learning and the development of mobile and wireless applications to support collaborative learning.
Biography
Petra Perner (IAPR Fellow) is the director of the IBaI. She received her Diploma degree in electrical engineering and her PhD degree in computer science for the work on “Data Reduction Methods for Industrial Robots with Direct Teach-in-Programingâ€. Her habilitation thesis was about “A Methodology for the Development of Knowledge-Based Image-Interpretation Systems". She has been the principal investigator of various national and international research projects. She received several research awards for her research work and has been awarded with 3 business awards for her work on bringing intelligent image interpretation methods and data mining methods into business.
